What this site is
ColorName.net brings together the color tools people usually hunt across half a dozen sites for — a color picker, color wheel, format converter, palette generator, gradient creator, mixer, WCAG contrast checker, color blindness simulator, a full-screen color screen tool and two image samplers — plus a browsable library of 245+ named colors and reference charts for Tailwind, Material Design and game color codes.
Every tool is free, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type, pick or upload is sent to a server, so the tools work offline and are safe to use with private or unreleased material.
How it's built
The conversion engine, harmony logic, contrast math and color-vision-deficiency simulation are written from scratch rather than pulled from a library, so the numbers stay consistent between every tool. Color conversions use standard sRGB and CIE math; nearest-name matching runs in the perceptually-uniform OKLab space; the color blindness simulator uses the widely-cited Machado, Oliveira and Fernandes (2009) model. Color names and published palette values are reference information; the tool code and site design are original.
